The Science of Keiser
The human body is a complicated machine, and I’ve spent my life studying it – what helps it, what hurts it, and what makes it perform like a champion. The answer is a combination of the right diet, exercise and lifestyle, but the equation is complicated. G Fit Life has always been a leader in personal training in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, and now we’re expanding our gym to become the leaders in speed.
We’ve recently renovated our gym to accommodate six new machines that are based on the Science of Keiser, a workout method designed to improve efficiency and speed while protecting your joints.
What is Keiser?
Keiser is a pneumatic resistance system that uses compressed air to help the muscles maintain a smooth and consistent range of motion regardless of how hard you work them. Think about a traditional leg press machine, for example. Using a traditional leg stack, you must do repetitions in slow, controlled movements. If you push as hard and as fast as possible, the machine will lose contact with your feet. That part isn’t so bad – it’s catching it on the return that can stress and damage your muscles.
On a Keiser leg press, the machine is controlled with pneumatic pressure. That means you’re able to not only control the weight resistance at the touch of a button, but you can put as much force behind the leg press as you like without it jerking away from you. Even better? It has a digital screen that includes reps, resistance level and the power of the last rep you did.
I can’t think of a better motivator than trying to beat that power number with each repetition, and my clients love the challenge!
Why does speed matter?
When it comes to being truly fit, power is about more than how much you can bench – speed is the other half of the equation. If you’re an athlete at any level, strong muscles are essential for playing your sport well. But if you want to outrun, outswing, or outperform the competition, speed is essential. Without the proper training, making a quick pivot to score a goal in a soccer match could put you on the injured list for the rest of the season.
If you don’t play sports, you can still benefit from the science of speed. Imagine walking down an icy sidewalk in the winter, for example. If you slip and fall, traditional weight training won’t help you stay on your feet. By working out with quick movements on Keiser, however, your muscles have the speed and agility necessary to better help you avoid a fall.

Don’t worry, we aren’t breaking up with our other equipment (yes, pull ups are still part of the regimen), but when our traditional machines are used in combination with Keiser, you’ll have even more pathways to success.
